Your family’s safety in an accident is an important point to consider when purchasing a new vehicle. Some of the safety features that are provided by almost all car manufacturers are airbags, crash resistant door pillars, crumple zones, impact absorbing interiors, anti-lock breaking systems, child locks and these features get more advanced with the higher end models. With evolving consumer needs with a growing impetus on safety by consumers, car companies have to start on reworking their strategy and start providing standard safety features in entry level cars as well.

The recently launched Chevrolet Spark by GM India leads by example in providing safety in the entry level segment. Optimised links between the B-pillar and sills provide side impact protection.  Known as Tailor-Welded Blanking or the Pendulum method, this is normally used only in larger vehicles in higher segments. The front-end design of the Spark is among the first in its class to comply with new European regulations for pedestrian safety.
